Chekhov’s gunA dramatic principle that states that every element in a story must be necessary, irrelevant elements should be removed; elements should not appear to make false promises. Writing style:
The Detective Thriller Mystery genre is my go-to tropes, finding them to be most thought provoking. Will be expanding and exploring literary devices of other cultures, languages and eras. Will update profile if I find more concise video references or learn any new writing techniques Latest Addition: Battle of Wits, Antagonist Meta Modern Meta-Fiction Stories

My flaws:
What have I learnt from Storium?Writer’s Bleed - As opposed to writer’s block, moves of Authors tend to bleed across games officially and unofficially via references and head canons. Perhaps this is a writer’s style or influence. Roleplay by Post - Dialogue based moves are also prevalent as opposed to novel-writing which may seem contradictory and inefficient unless the moves are made often. I usually circumvent downtime with flashbacks, monologues or B-side stories. Flex Vs Flexibility - While the Obstacles and mechanics control the gameflow, naturally creativity is about overstepping bounds to fall between new bounds. Hosts and Writers need to adapt to each other for a successful Storium and not suffer from GVHD. Sherlock Holmes - Apparently I like its canon without ever reading its originals because its derivatives are very much thought provoking.
Yes, there exist other mystery-solving deduction styles but most just vary in tone and setup but not method. I grew up on TinTin comics, Jeffrey Deaver and Nancy Drew. What is a Storium? It is the periodical elements of a Story, encapsulated in moves from the First Law of Motion, compounded into making a scene, resulting in Acts that change the world. |
