The moon hovers above your head as you slink through the tall grass, whiskers twitching against the blades as you breath in the cool night air. You can scent it. You’re getting close. Your paws, as bitterly cold and worn as they were, begin to move faster.

“Halt.”

A black and white cat perches upon the thick, knotted roots of a tree, staring you down coldly. “This is not your territory.”

You hurriedly and frantically explain yourself, how you were once a witch’s familiar, how you’ve heard of the Moonclaw Coven, that they welcomed all felines who yearned to understand magic.

The cat’s expression does not change, but the icy edge of his tone seems to melt with his next words. “I see. That changes things.” He turns and flicks his tail. “Follow me, then - there’s much to show you.”

Welcome to a witch’s coven - of cats! For one reason or another, you have come together to form your own coven, whether you’ve been betrayed by your former master or your beloved witch has found herself on the unfortunate side of the gravestone. You gather to teach each other spells, work on brews, and fight monsters in the night.

Inspired by Warrior Cats and real-life feral cat colonies, this will be a slice of life game with monster of the week challenges, ranging from witch hunters to monsters that lurk in the dark. Survive, grow your magic, and care for one another as the moon grows high!

New Kowloon Outcasts

Open Lobby began {{helpers.calendarDisplayTime(1740009815)}}, ends {{helpers.calendarDisplayTime(1741219415)}}

The year is 2483.

Fifty kilometers off the coast of a country which has outlawed both, magic users and rogue cyborgs alike survive in the lawless prison that is the city-state of New Kowloon, a contorted maze of twisted skyscrapers that stretch to the sky. The last place their kind can be accepted in East Asia. They are not alone on this floating blight in the South China Sea, though. International crime has found a bastion in New Kowloon, as few laws seem to apply here. They have applied a new motto:

Sex. Drugs. Money. That is what powers this island.

But while the criminals thrive, what of the original inhabitants of this island? What is their place? Well, most of them have placed their allegiance with the main factions now ruling New Kowloon, and crime is now their way of life. From the opulent upper levels to the slums at the bottom, many have made this choice.

Some, who opposed the criminal ways the city turned to, once protested, but none of them lived to tell the tale.

However, a few, though willing to accept crime as their new purpose, aren’t exactly willing to answer to any international overlords. As such, they have been branded with the term ‘Outcasts’.

The Search For Esteban Cowl

Open Lobby began {{helpers.calendarDisplayTime(1739638757)}}, ends {{helpers.calendarDisplayTime(1740848357)}}

The collaborative storytelling website Let’s Tell A Tale! has always had to contend with the challenges of a niche and somewhat transient user base. But in its decade of scrappy existence, the community of committed writers had grown to include a collection of loyal long-time players. Many came for the creative outlet the site provided, willing to deal with the occasional opinionated co-author and waves of spam from call girls in Southeast Asia because, well, writing with others was fun.

The founder of LTAT!, Esteban Cowl, had also been an optimistic and encouraging presence. With his small but dedicated team of moderators, they did their best to control advertisers and aggressive players, and provide regular updates regarding improvements to the site to reassure users that, even if no internet powerhouse, this passion project was a priority to them.

For years, the LTAT! site existed in a state of balance, and users were generally happy. Nothing can ever be perfect, of course, but the variety of writing games available and variety of sincere players was such that the experience for most is positive.

But then, one day, the unthinkable happened: Mole People from Thalassa attempted to take over the Earth, causing all of humanity to unite together to overcome this invading foe. There was no free time to write during this interstellar war, as everyone’s focus was on saving their planet. It took three grueling years, but in the end, mankind triumphed. Now able to relax once more, they returned to their computers and to LTAT!…but the community was not what it once was.

Where once were a plethora of stories to collaborate on now a simple scarce few. Even the players, apart from the long-time loyal, had become minimal. But most notable of all was the absence of Esteban Cowl; he had gone quiet and allowed the spammers to take over the forums like an unchecked Wild West.

A quick look on LinkedIn clarified that Esteban Cowl was not a casualty of the recent planetary war. But while this was reassuring, the LinkedIn page also revealed he had moved on to work on other tech endeavors - essentially leaving LTAT! to the wayside.

You and your fellow players are devoted users on LTAT!. The last thing you want is for the site to completely go dormant. While you’ve never met each other in person, you have formed a pact to together fly to Saint Francis, California, and seek out Esteban Cowl, hopeful that you can sway him back to his creative start-up before he is completely lost to new projects.

Will your team be able to find your beloved website’s absent founding father? Will you be able to revive LTAT!? Or has the time come for everyone to accept collaborative writing online will never be as it once was?

Find out in…

WORK STILL IN PROGRESS

“The Chosen One is gone. The city of Cal is destroyed.” But that is something we all already know: it has been already over 3000 years since all of that unfolded. Why bring it up, then, you might question? Well, there is this… madman, who has been roaming the streets of Dalk - rosen from Cal’s groundwork by its remaining population - naked, and confused, and repeating once, and once again: “The Chosen One is gone. The City of Cal is destroyed.” One might think the best thing to do about this peculiar yet not necessarily relevant situation would be to ignore it. However, on this frail man’s skin, in the middle of his forhead, engraved as if by a ray of light, shines the symbol of the deceased Chosen One.
