1192 - England.
England, under the Normans, has become a two tier system. The Norman overlords rule from their castles, setting taxes and exhorting tithes from the Anglo-Saxon natives. The weak are oppressed, children cry in the arms of their parents and the vulnerable and preyed upon by the cruel.
In his youth, Robin of Locksley escaped the destruction of his village by Robert de Renaud, raised by the miller and his wife, he grows into a rebel. Chosen by Herne the Hunter, the forest deity, to become a symbol of freedom and justice.
He is joined by other rebels and, together, they make a home on the greenwood, striking out to thwart the Sherriff of Nottingham’s plans and to become a beacon of hope to the people of England.
The Sherriff and his captain, Guy de Gisborne, have branded Robin and his group rebels and Wolfsheads, outlaws with no rights and a price on their heads.
This game draws heavily on the Mythos of Robin of Sherwood. In this tale, Robin is entrusted with the sword Albion, one of the Seven Swords of Wayland, infused with the powers of light and darkness.
Characters are pre-defined to a point, but feel free to tweak and edit. I’d be happy to gender swap some characters such as Much, Nazir, Alan etc, but I’d prefer to keep Robin. Marian, Will and Tuck in their original forms more or less.
Each character will have a role to fill and each will be granted one ‘speciality’ by Herne. These will be gifts, very subtle, but slightly magical/spiritual in nature.
Fun, daring do, edged with hints of darkness, this will be the further adventures of Robin’s band of Wolfsheads.
Initial setup
A new Tax Collector, Giles de Montford has been employed by the Sherriff to collect the latest round of taxes. In his employ are a group of Brabanconne mercenaries who are ruthless in their punishment of those who refuse to pay.
Rumours are rife that the Sherrif is pocketing some of the taxes for himself, but why would he risk the wrath of the volatile Prince John?
And what of the rumours of a witch in the Sherriff’s keep? just waht is he up to?
Times are hard on Nottinghamshire and the poor look to Robin and his band.
