One morning you wake to an earthquake, it’s fury like nothing you have ever experienced. You stumble to the window and you hear something that can only be described as the world itself… screaming in agony. As you watch, entire forests collapse, and flocks of birds escape into the sky. The distant mountains, so far from where you are they are merely a vague outline on the horizon… erupt in smoke and fire, and one just… crumbles… its passing just adds another tremor to the quake already savaging the land. You stumble out into the town square. People are running, screaming… panicking… and suddenly a rent in the ground opens wide, cracking the ground like a egg’s shell, and a fissure spewing dust and rock swallows a group of terrified villagers. Their screams fade and stop… You think for a moment to run to the ledge, regardless of your own unsteady legs to see what you can do to help, but a sudden gust of wind nearly knocks you down to the ground. You look up into the sky and see a whirlwind of air, an angry tempest which rips through a house to your left to spray wood, brick… and people almost casually into the air. You watch in horror as the sky darkens with incredible speed and rain begins to crash down. Lightning cracks and thunder rumbles and within moments there is hail and… ash, which just adds to the torrent of debris that is crashing all around your frantic flight. Then you see it… a wall of force, pushing all before it in its unstoppable wrath. You have not even a half-breath to intake before it slams into you with the force of a God… and all goes dark…
You wake. The Event has stopped, but the devastation it left in its wake is stark and terrible. Nothing but rubble and remains… You are surprised you are even alive. You become aware of people weeping… and people searching through the rubble of what was once their homes and places of work, looking for remnants of their former life, and the loved ones that are still missing after the Event’s sudden coming.
The next few weeks pass with almost surreal normality, sunny skies, and calm weather… though it seems colder than it should be, and in that time people begin to rebuild. Bridges and supports cross the chasms in the ground. Buildings are rebuilt and people heal. You help with this as best you can, though something seems off… The other villagers don’t seem to notice, they are just happy to have survived, though the pain of their loss is still evident in their eyes and forced smiles. It looks like everything will be ok, so you push your gnawing worry to the back of your mind, better focus on one day at a time, least you be overwhelmed… though… you do wonder what tomorrow will bring…
The Strong and Week card will be ‘Action’ cards. You will roll your stat/ability, and if you succeed you wright the outcome and if failed I will write it.
