Enceladus, 3030 AD
It has been 300 years since humanity first colonized the icy Saturn moon Enceladus.
Since then, it has come under the purview and effective rule of interplanetary conglomerate Aegis Corp.
More than half of the moon’s surface is covered by a single, sprawling city: Serendip.
It is within this icy metropolis that disaster brews.
11 years ago, Aegis Corp took a lifeform from the saltwater oceans under the moon’s surface, the first of its kind to be captured. Whatever they discovered was of immense value and secrecy.
Serendip went on lockdown for a decade. All off-planet travel was suspended indefinitely. Infrastructure, trade and employment suffered severe degradation. Aegis’ private security detachment grew twentyfold, swelled by reinforcements from nearby stations. Its squads of dreaded Retributors patrolled the streets, skies and near space.
Crime was rampant; Aegis-backed consequences doubly so. Amidst this unexplained chaos, a resistance of sorts took hold. Six months ago, their years-long plan finally reached fruition. Leveraging one of the many solar mirrors orbiting Enceladus, they managed to punch through the communications blockade field that had kept the moon isolated for years.
Members of the resistance were briefly able to hail Titan, the Mimas outpost and a number of residence stations orbiting Saturn. A desperate shout into space for elucidation, understanding, and aid.
Unable to violate the Aegis Accords without starting a war, yet reluctant to ignore the distress signal, Titan is dispatching a team of elite mercenaries to investigate. What they will find there, no one knows…
