The 1940s. An unnamed city along the eastern US seaboard. Crime…plenty of it.
You’re either a victim, a perp, a defender, reporter, or an investigator. I’m sure that you’re familiar with the types of characters you’d find in this kind is setting.
I’m David Powers; Private investigator. And I’m on the case.
The idea for this game is a bit different than what you normally find here on Storium.
First off, I’m only looking for one other player (maybe two, but no more than that)
Secondly, there’s no predefined plot line. We’ll be creating that as we go.
Third, the challenges will all simply be “Advance the story” and you and I will play our respective cards (I’ll be running a character, David Powers, in the game) to that end. Meaning…
the game will go wherever we, as writers being influenced by the cards we play, choose to take it.
In essence, this is a game without a narrator dictating what happens next. (I’ll have to act as narrator to advance us from one scene to the next, as that’s how things are set up her on Storium, but that will be limited to encapsulating what has gone on up to that point, and then moving on to wherever we, as players, choose to go.)
You’ll be creating your own character with your own Nature, Strength, Weakness, and subplot cards, and we will, together, be introducing the necessary Location, People, challenge, Asset & Goal cards to move our story forward.
If you’re someone who likes to “Wing it” when it comes to storytelling, this would be the ideal game for you.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have, propose character ideas, etc… in the open lobby, or simply submit your character for consideration. (Please understand that the idea is to have a very limited cast of characters with players who are committed to writing regularly without long delays)
