A few unlikely individuals from Earth, in the summer of 2016, will find their way across dangerous Void, and be swept up into a magical adventure on the world of Mercia.
Mercia is a medieval fantasy world - but different from what most would call the norm. The gods hold powerful sway over their people, and religion is a force that cannot be ignored. Technology in some places is replaced with the magical science of Artifice, and in others, Magic reigns at the hands of Runespeakers - masters of Word Magic. Strange races are about as well - The short lived but violently powerful Harvon, the noble Wolfen, the feral but agile Catfolk, and the excitable Reechi (Intelligent flying squirrels a la Watership Down or Redwall) share space with many different cultures of humans, along with Elves, Goblins and Dwarves.
The Elves of this setting are not your normal fey - they’re more like the Sidhe of the faerie court than traditional D&D Elves, and the Goblins are not monsters or sword-fodder - they are mercenaries who hire out to the highest bidder, or bandits at worst. The Dwarves are the chosen of the goddess of the Earth, formed from her pooled blood, when she suffered a grave injury long ago, and can channel her power with innate gifts that let them master the Earthblood.
And then there are the Dragons. Dragons are the source of magic - but they are titanic forces of physical might and magical destruction. Only three dragons in the history of Mercia have ever been slain - and those were in the Age of Legends. The common man of the current era is far less than the heroes of that age. Dragons have not been seen in Known Mercia for over three thousand years - but now the forces of Hserin are moving, and the Dragons stir in their slumber. The bearers of the Black Rings - powerful evil sorcerers - are their generals.
War is coming between the Hserinyar and their dragon lords, and the rest of the civilized races of Mercia. Can you weather the coming storm?
