Synthesis: A World Without DiseaseHosted by Nelson Pingitore (Steelsmith) |
|
The world of synthesis is set far into the future of Earth. It is an era of reconstruction after a blood borne plague nearly wiped out humanity. Thanks to the works of a brilliant scientist by the name of Gabriel Thorne the plague was vanquished through the process known as “Synthesis.”
Since then society has slowly begun to retake a presence within the world. Old cities long abandoned or wiped out have begun to be resettled. New city states have begun expanding their influence, and the presence of corporations have returned from the ashes. Their primary trade: Synthetic Blood Services.
This era of new colonization is not without its hardships. For starters the process of synthesis has been made mandatory for all city states’ citizens. Along with this the pioneers resettling within the old wastelands face the troubles of bandits, mutants of the blood plague, and an ever present shortage of synthetic blood to maintain themselves.
Within the city states themselves there are multiple groups that abuse the work of Synthesis. Many of these gangs have been deemed “addicts”, who unlawfully experiment and mix the multiple blood types to draw forth new and odd powers. Often times this abuse mutates the person, and eventually drives them insane.
The Corporations have slowly turned the gift that saved humanity’s life into something to be marketed for the wealthy.
Prestigious societies of the wealthy elite have gone to extraordinary lengths to grasp at the rarer synthetic compositions in order to protect themselves from the side effects of the commoner’s compositions.
You are entering a world that has found itself wrapped in change. Whether or not you support this change, or fight it, you will discover for yourself that humanity’s savior may just be its greatest downfall.
Welcome, to the world of Synthesis.

What is Synthesis?
Synthesis is a medical procedure in which the patient undergoes the process of having their blood drained from their body completely, as well as having their heart temporarily disabled. When the blood is drained, the patient is injected with a chemical composition of their limited choosing. The chemical compositions may vary based on multiple social, geographical, or economic factors. Once the body has been fully rejuvenated with this chemical composition, the heart is then reactivated, save for the component in which it produces and pumps blood. Rather, the heart will circulate the chemical compound throughout the patient’s body instead of blood.
Why is there Synthesis?
Nearly one hundred years ago humanity was on the brink of extinction due to a blood borne virus simply referred to as the “Hemoplague”. All hope was nearly lost until a man by the name of Gabriel Thorne discovered a way to manipulate chemicals into synthetic blood. Through a series of constant tests and injections Thorne could not find a reliable enough way to truly rid the plague from the human body, until he went even further to say, “What if we replaced it completely?” with this in mind, he experimented on creatures who were struck by the Hemoplague, and completed the first successful forms of Synthesis. When he realized that the plague no longer held bearing upon these creatures, he soon brought his work forward to what remained of the world’s leading governments.
Desperate, the governments began to implement synthesis on a massive basis. Within a matter of months, the Hemoplague had been extinguished from the remaining societies. Gabriel then continued his work to ensure that the process of Synthesis could be a long term solution to preserving humanity’s survival.
Unfortunately Thorne would seemingly fade overnight, nobody would hear of the man again. Though his legacy would live on, and he’d be dubbed the Hero of Humanity.
How Does Synthesis Work?
Due to modern science Synthesis is able to act as artificial blood within the human body, not only serving every purpose that blood is to serve, but also to affect the brain of the human. Due to the requirement of blood circulating through the brain, different synthetic compositions have been known to permanently affect different aspects of the brain both positively and negatively. Different compositions unlock different portions of a person’s potential. The use of their brain becomes far greater than a mere ten percent.
In regards to maintenance, Synthetic blood cannot be produced by the natural heart. There is a limited supply of synthetic blood within the human body. For example, if someone’s finger were to be cut open and they started bleeding, the synthetic blood would not be reproduced within the body to regenerate its host. Furthermore, due to the nature of these compounds, once blood has been exposed to oxygen it loses its potency and purpose, making it impossible to be re-circulated back into the host’s body.
A solution to his issue was originally a government lead project known as the Milk Men protocol. this provided jobs immediately after the plague was eradicated to the survivors whose skill sets didn’t necessarily fit towards reconstructing society.
Milk Men, as they were aptly named, would, on a monthly basis go from household to household to deliver each family a Do-it-Yourself synthetic injection which would replenish their synthetic blood within their body.
As time passed and population rebounded, companies would sprout and begin to take the helm of the fabrication and distribution of synthetic blood to households.
What does Synthetic Blood Look Like?
Synthetic blood is color coded based on its separate compounds. Each color of blood has its own distinct appearance, however all of which are fluorescent in nature. The following Blood Colors are:
Red- Increased Strength/toughness. Decreased intellect/Charisma
Blue-Increased Intellect/Charisma. Decreased Strength/toughness.
Green- Increased Intellect/Dexterity. Decreased Toughness/Strength
White- Able to siphon the aspects of other colors based on contact with others. Decreased Charisma. Increased Intellect.
Black- Able to Enrich the aspects of other blood types upon touch.. Increased Charisma. Decreased Strength
Yellow- Increased Dexterity/Strength. Decreased Toughness/Charisma.
Pink- Increased Toughness. Resists the effects of White and Black blood types.
Orange- Increased Dexterity/Strength. Decreased Charisma.
Silver- Highly increased Intellect/Charisma. Decreased dexterity.
Gold -Highly increased Intellect/Strength. No known defects..
These different colors can be seen very clearly within the veins of each individual, and have also been known to affect the individual’s eye color. When bled out, synthetic blood takes on the appearance of a thick paint.
Often times if someone is to try and mix the different blood types their veins take on an almost tye-dye kind of effect in color, before slowly turning into a dull grey. Often if someone is grey blooded, it can be assumed that they have abused the synthetic blood types. These men and women are to be considered extremely dangerous.
Grey- Effects depend on the compositions that were mixed together. Sanity is generally nonexistent.
