Forced out to sea, fleeing an unprecedented plague that swept through Aldis like wildfire, a ragtag band of strangers must find a way to survive.
They boarded a boat in Ellsport hoping to get out onto the ocean before the authorities closed all the ports. Two hundred souls crammed into every available nook and cranny on a boat meant to hold half their weight. It was a mission of mercy, one nobody expected to succeed. But when the alternative was to stay among the sick and dying, people grasped onto any shred of hope they might find.
The first death was an old woman. She had been too frail to survive such a hard trip, they argued. Her husband passed quickly after from a broken heart. It wasn’t until one of the crew fell ill that they realized what was happening. Within days, most of the ship was dead and a storm was approaching.
