For Emerton’s people, when they heard the news of the Lord Emery’s passing it was like a monarch had died. It left their fate in very unsteady hands. After all, his whole family died long before him, whether it had been by drink, drugs, car accidents, or something more mysterious. The town, owned, run, and funded by one family and their secret businesses was a daunting thought for some. It meant that if there were no heir to take over, who would fund the town?
After two years, the moving van ran through the little cobbled streets heading towards the manor. Emery Manor stood high on the hill overlooking the town draping a shadow over each and every street. The people stopped and stared as the van made its way up to the gate and then passed through. Then the whispers began. There was finally an heir.
No one knows where she came from, this young woman, contrasting against the shadowy manor with her bright smile and personality. Swooping in, a stranger unlike her supposed relatives, wonderfully delightful. The town are certain she doesn’t belong. No one knew of this mystery child or who her parents were. Which son was responsible for the chaos? They are secrets that the town must find out before she destroys everything they have worked for and everything they know.
