Many, many, years ago, all the many races of Misha lived in harmony. However, that did not last forever and the Shadowlings, under the rule of King Noctus, grew greedy and attacked the other races for control of the country. This was known as The Dark War. The Dark War was long, bloody, and resulted in the extinction of the Dragon race, but eventually, the other races prevailed and the Shadowlings and Noctus were driven away to the far Island of Larania, and the Elder Mages of the each of the remaining races worked together and sealed the island away from the rest of the world.
Many years have passed since then, and everything is peaceful once more. However, time is a constant tribulation and challenge and the barrier around the Island of Larania has weakened significantly. The Elder Mages have long since gone into hiding or died. This is a major issue, for no one else has the power to strengthen the seal once more. In order to preserve the safety and peace of Misha, the current Race leaders have all agreed to send a group of people on a quest to find those mages still alive, and find the reincarnations of those mages who died.
You are one of few hired to search the land for these mages. You could have agreed to join this quest for a number of reasons, whether those reasons are money, safety, the result of a heart of gold, or something else, the fact remains that you have been chosen, and failure will lead to war.
