“How at a dinner that the queen made there was a knight enpoisoned, which Sir Mador laid on the queen.” - Le Morte d’Arthur, Book 18, Chapter 3
Camelot is in full bloom. Peace reigns on the Isle of Britain, chivalry and romance flower in adventure across the land, even the marvels of the Holy Grail have been sought and found by the knights of the table round; the fiery sword was found missing and Arthur has led his people back into Paradise.
But then why do men whisper when they speak of Sir Lancelot and the queen? What is that dark shadow that haunts the king’s eyes when he looks on Sir Mordred, his sister’s son? Why do the wounds of the grail quest still linger?
Why would a man die at the queen’s own table, choking on an apple?
It is time for Arthur’s knights to embark on the most difficult quest in their lives - the search for the truth. Who can they trust? Who can they believe? And when they have the truth, can they live with what they have discovered, or has Camelot rotted to its core?
