“As we age, we become our parents; live long enough and we see faces repeat in time.”
― Neil Gaiman, The Ocean at the End of the Lane.
The Gastrell family have been a notable family for hundreds of years. Their family estate at Straithwell House has been handed down through the generations and is the seat of their legacy. As well as their city home, for when they’re in town.
At the beginning of this game, the year is 1929, and the USA is in the beginning of the Great Depression following the legacy of First World War, which has had a massive effect on the population and many people’s lives have been touched by the horror of the Great War. The family’s interests in steel and cotton have all taken a hit and things are tense. Maintaining a great house like Straithwell is troublesome. The world is changing and the Upper Class are no longer lorded as they once were.
Going forwards, we will explore the generations that follow the original characters through time, into the late 1940s, late 1960s, 1980s, 2000s and the modern day. (This may change a little) Each chapter will focus on a different character, though the previous ones will likely appear as their older selves.
Exploring the characters and their interactions is my main focus.
Characters are welcome to be siblings, parents, spouses and so on.
