Since you were kids, it was always the four of you, inseparable. Best friends. You grew up together, closer than siblings, travelling through life together despite challenge or reward. In middle school your parents called you the “squad” and you all hated that, but the idea that the four of you fit together, belonged together was a nice one. Between sleepovers, late night text conversations, and the occasional party thrown by one of your classmates, you stuck together and were never far from each other, and thought that would be how it was forever. You would go to college together, live near each other, get married and have families together.
But then Jen was gone.
A key pillar holding up the cathedral, a vital piece of the puzzle; without Jen the remaining three just couldnt stand. You werent the same. Soon, a friendship that had lasted years through thick and thin was dissolving into fights, petty arguments over silliness that had never happened before.
Now, two months after Jen’s death, with some of you still in mourning, some ready to move on, and some still unsure what to do, the three of you must decide. Will this be a story of recovery, of the saving of a friendship after disaster? Or will it be one of growth? Learning to move on and move past, letting go and finding your own life beyond your old friends.
