Nestled in one of the arms of the Triangulum Galaxy, lies the colony of NOS (or Novel Orbital Station), suspended in orbit above the planet Zychaes 02B. NOS has been around for roughly 75 years, ever since Zychaes 02B was ravaged by a virus that mutated much of the planet’s flora, rendering it inhabitable.
NOS is part of the Triangulum Triumvirate, which includes two other colonies in the Triangulum Galaxy–Colony Iris and The Radiance Terminal. Each colony is ruled by a monarchical system, the royal families poised above all others. Some beings within the Triangulum Triumvirate don’t have citizenship under any of the colonies. They’re considered the lowest of the low among citizens of the Triumvirate, and are often referred to as “Coppers” due to their tendency to live in metallic holds, clung to the bottom of the orbital stations. These areas of the stations are usually called “the Copper Rungs” or just “the Rungs” for short.
The current monarch of NOS, Emperor Jannick Hana, rules with an iron fist. The Coppers under his reign often resort to piracy and kidnapping in order to make ends meet in this harsh and unrelenting station. Emperor Hana has long been playing a tense game of chess with the Coppers, now culminating in the disappearance of his youngest daughter. Emperor Hana highly suspects a group of Coppers is responsible for the disappearance of his heir and has set a reward for 10 million vobuls for her safe return–enough to set any citizen of the Triumvirate straight the rest of their life.
Thousands of feet below the emperor’s palace, haphazardly positioned deep in the Rungs, a Copper pirate captain sits in the Quantum Dive, searching for a crew the likes of which has never been seen to seek out the lost princess.
