GNN BREAKING NEWS - WHITE HOUSE: ROSE GARDEN
Under the midday sun, President Hawthorne looked down at his notes and cleared his throat.
“My fellow Americans, there are those who say that bipartisanship is dead and that Washington can no longer get things done. Today, I stand here with Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader, the leaders of both parties, to prove those cynics wrong. Today, we enact the most important legislation since–”
A newspaper reporter spotted a jet flying overhead, and asked her photographer, “Are they doing some sort of flyover today?”
Her photographer, a veteran of three wars, squinted up at the sky. “Looks like an F-16. Strange that there’s only one.”
“–as leaders, we have long struggled to find the appropriate balance between security and liberty,” continued Hawthorne, “but as Benjamin Franklin once said–”
“Look, something fell of the plane. That black thing,” said the reporter.
“Oh, shit!” said the photographer. “Get down!”
A Secret Service agent ran to the President and pushed him to the ground, covering his body with her own.
The image went white, then to static, with the sound of an explosion.

CODE BLACK - RETURN TO CTA
12 is an action-oriented thriller, inspired by 24 and Homeland, about a major terrorist attack on the United States. The players will be agents of the Counter Terrorism Agency racing against time to uncover the culprits and prevent further devastation. The CTA team may include hardened field operatives, idealistic rookies, brilliant technical operators, bold special ops commandos, ruthless interrogators, team players, lone wolves, people struggling with ethical dilemmas, and political operators who see this crisis as the perfect opportunity to advance their careers.
One of the players may be a mole, working for a shadowy conspiracy. Or more than one. Or none.
12 will have exactly 12 scenes, each corresponding to an hour between noon and midnight.
12 will include lethal PvE (player vs. NPC) interactions as well as the possibility of lethal PvP combat. 12 will use the Storium Wordskill system that I’ve developed here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mwfF52bg3nMa8s4h0p5SpwNlvv07EQNdWlvMs75RPkU/edit?usp=sharing
The rules will likely change and evolve as we see what works and what doesn’t.
Each character should have an interesting background. This can include information that is secret from other players. Include any secrets in the private message with your character submission and not on your character page. If you want to be a mole, mention that in your submission message.
Feel free to invent your own natures, strengths, weaknesses, subplots, etc. If you do invent your own nature, be sure to read the Wordskill rules and include how many COMBAT, KNOWLEDGE, and HEALING cards (up to 3 in total) your character has.
Overall, I’m aiming for a tone and pace similar to 24 or Homeland. Character interaction is strongly encouraged, both in pursuit of objectives and outside of those objectives. However, there will be no scenes where people just stand around talking. Things will happen and will happen fast.
Even though the game is inspired by 24, it’s not intended to be part of that universe. There’s no Jack Bauer, and you don’t need to be familiar with the events of the series.
